Statistics reveals that almost 50% of the people who are 65 or more years old suffer from frequent sleeping problems. However, the reason for such a big problem is being researched extensively and will be known in a due course of time. But doctors who are experts in the field suggest some valuable points for the cause of sleeping disorders. For the older people, sleeping problems could be caused due to tiredness or aging or frequent intake of pills. Mind you, the Sleeping Pills might give you good sleep for sometime but if the same is used overly, then there are chances that you will have persistent sleeping problems if you stop taking those pills. Better it is good to go for simple methods rather than going for medical alternatives to cure your sleeping problems.
A common reason for sleeping disorder is the fluctuating lifestyle of the people. People who consume alcohol before sleep are the most affected of the lot. If you were already unaware of it, note that the alcohol might make you feel drowsy and make you fall asleep for sometime but that’s not the right method of generating sleep. The alcohol might make you feel as though you are asleep but it doesn’t really give you good sleep. Excessive smoking and drinking are harmful for the health. They damage the vital parts of the body if they are overly used. Even caffeine is not advisable to be taken before going to bed. And, people who travel frequently also stand at a risk of having sleeping disorders. The different time zones caused jet lag that is difficult to overcome in a day. People who travel frequently may experience tiredness and body pain that take a toll on their body. Hence, this might disrupt the person’s sleep.
There are two common terms associated with sleeping disorders called ASPS and DSPS. An ASP is prevalent among the old-aged people and for women who suffer from menopausal symptoms. This makes them feel tired and sleep for more time even during the day time. DSPS is nothing but the exact opposite of ASPS. It is chronic sleeping disorder which makes the person feel sleepy during the day time and stay awake during the night. People who are exposed to night time activities are prone to this type of sleeping disorder.
